A chart that shows everything is hard to read at a glance. The chart gives you one button for the quick change and a settings list for the ones you set once.
Declutter
Tap the declutter button on the toolbar to step through Full, Mid and Min. The caption says which you are in.
- Full shows everything, including every light's characteristic.
- Mid is the everyday level. Light characteristics appear once you zoom in past about 1:10,000.
- Min drops the weather, tracks, the fleet, routes you are not navigating, loose waypoints and the tools. Dangerous AIS targets always stay.
The level is remembered for each cockpit page and each zoom range.
Whatever the level, identical labels close together show once, and a tap on a light always gives its full characteristic in the card.
Chart settings
Tap Chart, then Layers and chart settings. The chart's own settings are at the bottom of the list, under the weather.
- Depths. Units in Metres, Feet or Fathoms. Safety depth and Safety contour, in meters. The line under them says which contour is actually Drawn: the next charted contour at or deeper than the one you asked for. Two depth shades and Soundings are switches.
- Chart display. Detail is Base, Standard or All. Switches for Labels, Declutter by scale (SCAMIN), Full-length light sectors, and Crowd-sourced marks outside ENC.
Day, night and red
The chart follows the app's display mode. In the cockpit, tap the display mode button in the status strip to step through Day, Night and Red. The chart's water, land, symbols and labels change with it, and labels keep a halo so they read over land and water alike.
In red, a Red brightness slider appears under Chart display for fine control at night.
Limits
Crowd-sourced marks come from OpenSeaMap and are shown only where no official chart covers the water. They are not official.
