Offwind for iPhone

Choose and edit fields

Tap a field to cycle what it shows, pinch to resize the numbers, and use the field editor for everything else.

Each page's fields are yours to change. The quick changes happen on the Helm itself. The rest happen in the field editor, which shows the page with its values frozen so nothing moves under your finger.

On the Helm

  • Tap a field to show its next alternate. On the chart page, a tap on BSP shows SOG, then VMG, then BSP again. A field with alternates is marked by the cycle arrows in the editor.
  • Press and hold a field to see where its value comes from: the Sensor, the Path it came in by, the Last update, and how long until it counts as stale (Stale after). A position, speed or course over ground also shows the GPS Fix.
  • Pinch the fields to make the numbers larger or smaller. Each pinch moves the page's data size in steps of 10 %.

Open the field editor

Use any one of these:

  • Press and hold the page dots.
  • Open the chart menu (Chart, the … button on the chart) and choose Edit fields and pages.
  • In Settings › Layout, press Edit the current page's fields.

The editor opens as a sheet titled Fields: and the page's name.

Change the fields

  1. Preview. The top of the sheet, Preview (values frozen), shows the page as it will look.
  2. Fields. The header says how many cells are in use, for example Fields (4 of 4 cells). Drag a field by its handle to reorder it, or remove it with the red delete button beside it. Add field adds one, as long as there is a free cell.
  3. One field. Tap a field's row to open it:
    • Size: 1×1, 2×1 (two cells wide) or 2×2.
    • Shows: what the field displays.
    • Sparkline (last 5 min): a faint line of the last five minutes under the value.
    • The alternates a tap cycles through, numbered in order. Remove one with its minus button, or add one with Add an alternate.
  4. Size. Data size sets how large the numbers are, the same as pinching. Columns and Rows set the grid.

Close the sheet when you are done. The page shows live values again straight away.

What you can show

Speed and wind (BSP, SOG, COG, HDG, TWS, TWA, TWD, AWS, AWA), performance (VMG, VMG wpt, Polar, Target BSP, Target TWA), the waypoint (DTW, BTW, XTE, ETA), and the boat (Depth, Depth (keel), Heel, Trim, Rudder, Current, Set, Baro, Air, Sea, Log, Trip, Battery). Fields you have set up for your own instruments are in the list too, under the names you gave them.

Limits

  • A phone grid holds at most six cells. Columns and Rows will not go past that, or below the cells your fields already use.
  • Each page and each orientation keeps its own fields. Turning the phone shows the landscape layout, which you edit separately.
  • While the editor is open, every field shows, including ones that have had no data yet, so that you can place them.
