Leaving the dock is one step. Go sailing opens a sheet filled in from the project. You check it, press Start, and everything the passage needs starts together.
Start a passage
- Open the sheet. Press Go sailing on the project's card on Projects, or at the top of the project screen.
- Project. The project you started from. Choose another here, or None (quick sail), and the rest of the sheet refills from that choice.
- Navigate. The route the cockpit will steer to. It starts on the project's armed plan, marked (plan) in the list. Choose another chart route, or No route.
- Record the track. On by default.
- Share live with the project. How long the shore can follow you, from Off to 14 days. It starts on the project's sharing setting and needs a project filed into a web project.
- Race rules. Starts on the project's setting. Race rules refuse shore messages, briefings and pushed routes while you sail.
- Start. At the bottom. It reads Starting… for a moment, then the cockpit opens.
Readiness on the sheet
The Readiness section repeats the project's readiness summary and lists anything that needs checking or is missing. The footer says it plainly: check before you lose the link; you can go anyway. Nothing on the sheet stops you from starting.
To fix a gap, press Cancel, fix it on the project, and open the sheet again.
What Start does
- Starts the passage, filed into the project.
- Starts recording, if Record the track is on.
- Starts navigating the route you chose.
- Turns race rules on, if you asked for them.
- Starts live sharing, and tells the web project the passage is under way, if it is filed into one.
- Opens the cockpit.
If the recording cannot start, the passage still starts and you are told: Sailing, but not recording: and the reason.
Limits
Only one passage runs at a time. While one is under way, Go sailing is greyed out on every project, and Quick sail is hidden. Finish the passage first. See Finish a passage.
Live sharing and race visibility go through a web project. A project kept on this device only can record and navigate, but the shore cannot follow it.
