Quick sail

Go sailing with no project, and file the track into one afterwards if you want to.

Not every sail needs planning. A quick sail is a passage with no project: an evening race you did not set up, a delivery across the bay, a practice afternoon.

Start

  1. Open it. On Projects, press Quick sail. It is below the next project's card, if you have one.
  2. Check the sheet. It is the Go sailing sheet, titled Quick sail, with Project set to None (quick sail). Record the track is on. Navigate is No route; choose a chart route if you want one. Live sharing needs a project, so it is greyed out.
  3. Start. The cockpit opens, recording.

To turn a quick sail into a project's passage before you leave, choose the project under Project on the same sheet.

Finish

Finish the way you finish any passage: More › Finish passage, held. See Finish a passage.

File it

With no project to open, Plan offers File this passage instead. It tells you the passage is in the log, and lists your projects.

  • Choose a project. The passage and its track go into that project, and the project opens.
  • New project from this passage. Makes a passage project with the same name and date, and files it there.
  • Not now. Keeps it as a recording in the log, in no project.

What it does not do

A quick sail has no armed plan, no live sharing and no review on the web. If you want those, make a project first. See Create a project.
