Offwind for iPhone

Plan while you sail

Open Plan at the chart table without stopping the passage, and get back to the cockpit in one tap.

Offshore, the boat sails while the navigator works below. Offwind keeps both going: the cockpit runs the passage, and Plan stays open beside it for routing, weather and the log.

The project in the cockpit

The project you are sailing is under Sail's Route. It is the same screen as in Plan, with three sections added at the top for while you are under way:

  • Now sailing. Under way since, Recording on or off, Shared live until if you are sharing, and Race rules on if they are. When you are navigating, it gives the route, the Next mark and its Distance. Against a routed plan it also shows how you stand against it and Arrival at this pace. If you are steering something other than the armed plan, it says Off the armed plan. Not navigating, it offers Navigate the plan.
  • Reroute from here. Routes the rest of the course from where the boat is. Underway, a result offers Arm and navigate, which makes it the plan and steers to it at once.
  • Messages. The latest messages from the shore team for this project, when it is filed into a web project.

Then come the sections you prepared: readiness, course, boat, weather and the rest.

Open Plan

  1. Open it. Go to More and press Open Plan. Plan opens on its tabs.
  2. Work. Everything keeps running: the recording, navigation and live sharing. A bar across the top shows the project's name and Under way · recording (or Under way if you are not recording). The project's card on Projects is headed Sailing now.
  3. Go back. Press Cockpit on that bar, or Return to the cockpit on the project.

The bar keeps MOB in reach the whole time you are in Plan.

What it does not do

You cannot start a second passage while one is under way. Draw or edit on the chart is greyed out on the cockpit's copy of the project. Open Plan and use the Chart tab to edit the course.
